Cape Town 25-Mar-06

Whilst visiting Cape Town on business Peter Brandt kindly took Lars Brohne and I on a trip around the Cape. My slides of the trip can be see here.

I tracked most of the trip on an old Garmin GPS III Plus. There were gaps in the track as we had trouble finding a signal in the early part of the trip, but the map below shows in the dotted line which route we took.

As we travelled around the Cape we saw...
bulletAt the Waterfront, Intec's previous office with its stunning vista. This has now been converted to luxury apartments.
bulletHaup Bay where we took a boat trip to seal island and then enjoyed a leisurely lunch overlooking the harbour on a sun soaked balcony.
bulletCape Point where we chose to forgo the cable car and walk up to the point. We saw the original lighthouse which was built too high up for the shipping to see it, and the newer lighthouse sighted precariously on the edge of the cliff half way down.
bulletThe baboons which were quick to jump into people's cars and take apart their luggage in search of food.
bulletThe penguins - Cape Town the only place I have heard of that has resident tropical penguins
